It's All Lies: A True Story
Based on what you've read of the First Draft so far, you would:

Definitely buy the book when it is available on the shelves.
Probably would buy the book when it is available on the shelves.
Wouldn't buy it - it's not to my tastes.

About 'It's All Lies: A True Story'

Hello gentle Reader.

If you’re reading this, than quite possibly you’ve been asking yourself the question ’So what’s this all about, then…?’. Simply explained, this site is a blogel, or e-novel, but it is also one with a bit of a difference.

There is an annual event called the National Novel Writing Month. As the name suggests, the object of participating in this event is to tap out a novel (approximately 50, 000 words, or 175 pages) in the space of a month, in this case between November 1 and November 30, 2005.

It is up to participants, of course, but we’re invited to post excerpts at National Novel Writing Month’s website, but it is not mandatory to ‘share’ your work at all. I’m choosing to post my work in its entirety, here, at this site. Readers will be able to share the journey with me, in a sense, as I do my best to meet the challenge.

Reasonably enough, the good folk behind National Novel Writing Month advise participants in no uncertain terms that they can expect to write a lot of crap, given the timeframe and the pressure. But the possibility of distilling a gem - a diamond in the rough, as it were – from the process is alluring, and that is part of the reason I’ve chosen to participate. The other reason is just plain old fashion curiosity: can I do it?

One of the rules of National Novel Writing Month is that participants absolutely cannot commence writing their novel prior to November 1, and this includes character sketches, plot outlines and so forth. However, I don’t think I’m breaking any rules by writing this fairly generalised ’About’ page, the object of which is to promote the event and perhaps inspire others to participate, or at least encourage you to return on November 1, 2005 to see the beginnings of the novel which I’ve entitled ’It’s All Lies: A True Story’. Nor do I believe it would be out of turn to add that it is going to be a ’Whodunnit’, of sorts, with tongue planted firmly in cheek… and yet, it is based on a true story, just as the title suggests.

Hopefully that is enough information to please you for the time being, gentle Reader; bookmark this site and check back as of November 1 and join us on what should be an intriguing journey.

Be well and happy, and I hope that Life is being kind to you and yours.

With thanks,

Jay Kerin,
